Yay!  School holidays are over!  So what did I do with my first 'piece of quiet' (as Big O says) time in 2 1/2 weeks?  Well, I vacuumed a hole in the mess just big enough to lay out some fabric, and started cutting.  My kids told me Easter was a celebration of lollies.So we went back to basics and made easter biscuits (3 eyed rabbits, flounders, chickens - less confused yet?) And we decorated some hard boiled eggs with crayons and food dye.And we were lucky, because the Easter Bunny came and 'laid' three chocolate rabbits in our lounge room!  Happy Easter to everyone! xo Screamstress

Today was "Football Day" at Big S's school.  It made me frown a little.  All the boys were dressed up in their team colours, aspiring to be a famous player one day.  Many of the little girls were also dressed in their family's team colours, aspiring to be... what?  A supporter?  A footballer's girlfriend?  Women's football exists no doubt, but I have never seen it in our local or national media.

I love how when people find out I enjoy sewing they give me all sorts of odd fabric.  Put it together with this beautiful but tired $1 caftan top.All you need is fabric for the body, and three strips for the ruffles.  Panda and I are tonight celebrating - on this day 11 years ago we met, both pretty drunk, in a pub. We are enjoying some quiet togetherness, and playing with our totally decrepit wood oven in the shed.  I thought I'd try to cook damper. My good friend was coaching her first session of 'Fresh Meat' (Beginners Level) Roller Derby last night, so the spawn and I made her some supportive biscuits! And then got a bit silly with the left over icing... This recipe is the easiest, and with the best consistency for biscuit shape cutters. Mega Easy Biscuits for Decorating Melt 113g (1/2cup) of butter (I actually use a dairy free spread).

This week I'm feeling a bit frustrated, what with the elephant that won't sit, I've lost my wool needle, and Ray G is hanging around, and I think its time I let go of him! the wind in your 'kite' and a good friend popping over with her op-shop bag for me to rummage through!And, yes, they are plastic shopping bags with yarn tied on.  The panda was taking out his fancy aerobatic kite and I grabbed some bags and yarn as we ran out the door, just to stop the spawn hassling him.  But our bag-kites worked much better than his, and were played with for the rest of the day
